Whether you manufacture a single product or manage a warehouse that deals with multiple packages going to a multitude of different customers, how a product is labeled plays an important role in your business strategy. Depending on what you do, the labels on your products may help them stand out from the crowd or ensure that they reach the right customer at the right time.

Labeling for Products and Warehouses

Your product may be sold in jars, bags, boxes, tubes, or some other container altogether. The size, shape, and type of the labels will be determined by these along with your brand’s aesthetics. You also need to consider the conditions that your products are stored in or if they will be exposed to harsh temperatures at any stage in their lives. The last thing you want in such a case is to have your product labels peeling off or being ruined at any point. You want your product labels to be durable, product-specific, and container-specific too. This makes labeling a much harder process than simply printing a label and gluing it. Additionally, you don’t want to spend oodles of time carrying out the labeling process manually.

Thankfully, there are a variety of different types of speciality labels and labeling machines that can help you with this dilemma.

If you run a busy warehouse, then labels play a huge role in how efficiently your premises run. Labels correctly identify the contents of a box or where it needs to be. Any errors in labelling can lead to a whole host of problems.

Why You May Want to Keep Your Labeling In-House

The risk involved in outsourcing the entire labeling process is a turn-off for many businesses. Overseeing the labeling process becomes an issue and any errors in labeling can have severe repercussions on your business. Outsourcing your labeling can also run up high costs as you may have to pay for the training of external workers to handle the specifics of your product as well as the transport of your products from your facility to the labeling one. Additionally, managing external vendors can be a task, making you want to keep your labeling in-house.

But what if you could have the best of both worlds?

Benefits of Outsourcing Labeling Products

While the labeling can be carried out in-house, having the actual labeling machines designed and installed by labeling experts can be just the ticket you need to make sure of a smooth flow of operations. Read on to learn how.

  • A Thorough Needs Assessment:

Labeling equipment manufacturers conduct a thorough needs assessment before recommending products. This means you know you’re getting exactly what you need.

  • Customization:

Whether their existing products need to be tweaked to suit your labeling needs, or if you need a whole new labeling system designed from scratch, they have the ability and the expertise to do it for you,

  • High Quality Control:

You can be assured of high-quality labels and avoid issues that come with misprints or improper label installation. You’ll also avoid problems that come from labels that won’t scan as you’ll have clear, easy to read prints and bar codes.

  • Scalability:

Owning your own labeling machine means you can print as few, or as many labels as the season demands. There is no need to change orders as everything is managed in-house.

  • Flexibility:

Depending on your needs, you may be able to get your hands on a machine that fits multiple needs and can handle the printing and labeling of products of different shapes and sizes.

  • Minimal Training Requirements:

Labeling isn’t rocket science. A well-designed labeling machine is easy to use with minimal training required. A good labeling product supplier will be able to train your employees in the use of the machine with minimal downtime.

  • Improved Processes:

High quality labels, faster labeling time, and minimal disruptions to your workflow mean that you’ll see productivity soar and errors reduce.

  • Value for Money

Investing in high-quality labeling equipment means you’ll see returns on your investment in a short frame of time. The lesser downtime you face, lower repair costs and fewer replacement parts needed when compared to cheaper, lower quality equipment actually means you’ll save money in the long run.

  • Impeccable After Sales Support:

Since they’ve built the machine, they know how to fix it in the rare event anything goes wrong. Great labeling equipment manufacturers take pride in their products and will be there in an instant if you need their help.

If streamlining your labeling processes with customized machines that are built specifically for you sounds good for your business, contact Accent Label Automation today to learn how we can help.

Importance of Cannabis Labeling https://accentlabelautomation.com/importance-of-cannabis-labeling/ https://accentlabelautomation.com/importance-of-cannabis-labeling/#respond Mon, 28 Aug 2023 18:52:43 +0000 https://accentlabelautomation.com/?p=33288 When it comes to packaging cannabis, Accent Label Automation understands that it is important to abide by the legal requirements.

The post Importance of Cannabis Labeling appeared first on Accent Label Automation.

]]>
60% of shoppers are likely to buy a product if it has all the information they need on their labels.

You need to print labels with all the necessary product description information, not only to make more sales, but to comply with the set regulations.

For instance, Health Canada requires your cannabis label to include all the relevant information. This information is mostly intended to assist consumers understand what they are consuming.

So, failure to comply may lead to attracting fines and penalties that may end up hurting your brand or bottom line.

But you have to do the labeling right as it helps you achieve the following.

1. Ensure Legal Compliance

The Canadian Cannabis Act states that you can only consume or purchase cannabis if you are 18 years and over.

Also, your packaging has to be of one primary color and should not have sweet aromas emitted while the cannabis is still in the package.

However, by meticulously adhering to these legal regulations, you not only fulfill legal requirements but also build public trust. This adherence serves as a clear message to your customers that you prioritize and uphold ethical business practices.

Additionally, the labeling on your cannabis product educates consumers about responsible usage.

Failure to do this attracts legal consequences like imprisonment for up to 14 years for selling cannabis that has psychotic effects to minors.

Therefore, you should always add a label on the packaging that your cannabis product is not for sale to anyone under the age of 18.

2. Promote Informed Consumer Decision-Making

Labeling helps the consumer understand what they are consuming or applying to their skin.

So, Health Canada requires that your label include all the ingredients on your cannabis. This is what you must include for all of these ingredients listed.

  •  Allergen information
  • Carrier oils
  • Flavorings
  • Additives
  • Cannabis components (THC, CBD)

For instance, the table below shows the Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) potency limit you should have on your product.

Class of Cannabis Product THC Potency Limit
Fresh or Dried flowers and leaves from the cannabis plant Up to 30%
Cannabis Oil Up to 3%
Chemically concentrated extracts like wax, budder or shatter Up to 90%
Physically concentrated extracts like Kief Up to 60%
Foods and drinks containing extracts of cannabis Maximum of 10 mg of THC per package
Tinctures or sprays from dissolving the cannabis extract in a solvent like alcohol. Maximum of 10 mg of THC per capsule or dispensed amount
Creams, Salves or Liniments Maximum of 10 mg of THC per package

You need to display this information on the label to enable the consumer to choose what percentage of THC they want to consume. Because THC has psychoactive effects (gives a “high”) when consumed in large doses.

3. Patients Know the Specific Cannabinoid Content

The therapeutic advantages of CBD have been the subject of numerous studies. CBD is a naturally occurring compound found in the cannabis plant. And unlike THC, it has no psychoactive effects or does not give a “high” when consumed.

Instead, it has potential therapeutic benefits according to these studies:

  • A 2017 study discovered that 2.5% transdermal CBD—applied to the skin—could prevent relapse in drug and alcohol addiction. How? CBD reduces relapse stressors by helping the user feel calm and relaxed.
  • A 2015 study shows that CBD can treat anxiety disorders.
  • The Rockefeller Institute of Medical Research study discovered that CBD reduces inflammation.
  • A 2017 JCI Insight study found that even after mild workouts like isometric exercises, CBD lowered blood pressure in patients whose blood pressure was high.
  • A 2015 Care By Design study found that CBD oil helped reduce pain and inflammation in cancer patients. It can also help improve cancer patient’s appetite and reduce fatigue as well as nausea.

Therefore, you need to show the exact CBD content while labeling your product because it enables the consumer:

  1. Have the exact dosage information so that they can be able to discuss with their doctors when creating a treatment plan.
  2. Calculate and administer precise dosages tailored to their medical needs.
  3. Replicate the correct dosage consistently.

Use Quality Cannabis Labeling Equipment

To attract more customers, you need to include all the ingredients your cannabis product has.

You need to list the CBD and THC potency levels and all the other ingredients in your product.

But you cannot include all these ingredients if your labeling machine does not allow you to label properly on all packages, whether big or small.

You can only achieve this level of finesse by using high-quality labeling machines from Accent Label Automation.

By using our labeling machines, you’ll ensure that every product stands out, providing clear and accurate information about its potency, strain and origin.

This elevates your brand’s image and instills confidence in your customers with labels that reflect your commitment to quality.

Purchase our cannabis labeling machines today and we will show you how to customize it to fit all your product preferences.

Product packaging labels are one of the most effective forms of visual marketing.

Imagine grabbing a packet of your favorite coffee beans at a grocery store. Instead, there are only coffee bean packets with no labeling, so they all look the same.

This would confuse you because you can’t pick any coffee bean brand and hope it’s your favorite.

This is where product packaging labels come in. It allows you to market your product by providing essential information such as its name, ingredients, and nutrition facts.

However, there are various multiple product packaging labels.

Here are the common types of labels you can use to make your product stand out from the crowd.

Gummed Labels

These are traditional labels that have been in existence since when you had to send letters and parcels to your loved ones.

When you had to moisten the thin layer of adhesive on the back of the label for it to stick to your package resulting in gummed labels.

Thermal Transfer Printers

Thermal transfer printers use ribbons made of wax or resin-based ink that melt onto the printing media (e.g., a label or similar) and create a long-lasting, high-quality image. This technique provides unmatched printing quality and durability.

They are ideal for long term applications where it can be used for six months or can be exposed to harsh conditions such as chemicals, light, high temperatures, and water. Therefore, it is great to use for asset tracking, laboratory specimens and blood bags, outdoor applications, permanent identification, and cold and freezer storage.

Specialty Labels

These labels use a specific mechanism to adhere to your products. Even so, specialty labels can be either traditional or printer-compatible.

These include:

1. Pressure-Sensitive Labels

These are the most common product labels. You can use a machine or hand to stick them on your product.

Because they have an adhesive on the back, these labels adhere to your product when you or an automatic label applicator applies pressure.

You only need to peel and then stick. There is no need for using heat or special equipment.

We also offer pressure-sensitive labels for the products you need labeled. Contact us today to learn more about our product and what we can do to help.

2. Shrink Labels

You need to print shrink labels on heat-shrinkable film. Then when you stick them on the product, you must apply heat to the label so that it can shrink and conform to the product.

The heat-shrinkable film makes these shrink labels extremely durable and resistant to harsh conditions.

However, it also makes it hard to apply them on products with irregular shapes or those that can melt when exposed to minimal heat during labelling.

3. In-Mold Labels

In-mold labels are permanent labels you can apply to a product, most commonly plastic containers.

But before inserting the plastic container, you must print the label first using an in-mold labeling machine. Then, the labeling machine injects the label onto the plastic, which permanently bonds with the container.

As a result, the in-mold labels are extremely resistant to moisture and chemicals. They are also very durable and do not easily tear or fade.

4. Die-cut Labels

These labels let your creativity run wild. It enables you to create labels of different shapes or sizes as you are no longer tied to the common squares and rectangles.

So, if your product line comes in different shapes and sizes, die-cut labels will help you custom-make labels for them all.

You do not have to stress trying to shrink your normal labels to make them fit on small packaging.

Use Quality Automatic Labeling Equipment

Our automatic labeling machines come with a dedicated label printer and an applicator mechanism. Therefore, the printer prints the labels in real-time, while the applicator applies them to the product.

However, the particular machine will determine what kind of labels to use. So before you purchase the blank labels, you should first ensure that the automatic labeling machine you want to buy is compatible with the labels you want to use.

You can get this information by checking the machine’s specifications or by contacting us. We’ll recommend the best automatic labeling machine you should invest in to maximize the results.

Contact us today to get started on your branding journey by ensuring that you brand your products with accurate and flawless labeling to stand out from the crowd.

3 Factors to Consider When Choosing a Food Labeling Machine https://accentlabelautomation.com/3-factors-to-consider-when-choosing-a-food-labeling-machine/ https://accentlabelautomation.com/3-factors-to-consider-when-choosing-a-food-labeling-machine/#respond Tue, 27 Jun 2023 22:19:27 +0000 https://accentlabelautomation.com/?p=33230 There are three factors you should consider when choosing a food labeling machine as it's important to find which the most accurate one. Click to learn more!

The post 3 Factors to Consider When Choosing a Food Labeling Machine appeared first on Accent Label Automation.

]]>
According to the  Label Insight Food Revolution Study, 94% of consumers want to know what’s in their food and its production process before they consume it.

Also, 71% of consumers check for a complete list of ingredients before making a food purchase.

As a result, they value brands that include complete information on the product label and this is why you should prioritize proper labeling.

But to dominate in this self-conscious consumer market, your food labeling should be accurate.  You can achieve this by investing in the right automated labeler.

There are three factors you should consider when choosing a food labeling machine.

1. Does It Follow Canadian Food Labeling Regulations?

On December 14, 2016, Health Canada published amendments to the Food and Drug Regulations (FDR) for nutrition labeling.

FDR mandated the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) to monitor compliance with a five-year implementation period ending on December 14, 2021.

The published amendments were a step towards prioritizing the consumers’ health by accessing accurate information about the nutritional content of the food they are consuming.

Therefore, you need to understand their regulations before designing your food label and ensure that the labeleryou purchase can print this information accurately.

For example, the table below shows the amendments to the FDR for nutrition labeling which you should follow while printing your product label.

Class Description
Ingredients you have to declare on the product label
  • Specific names of the foods not just generalizations like listing peanut oil instead of oil or plant-based oil
  • Clearly identify the source of ingredients using its common name e.g wheat starch and soy lecithin
  • Prepackaged foods with more than one ingredient should disclose the full list of ingredients
  • Prepackaged foods with any potential allergens present in them
Ingredients you do not have to declare on the product label
  • Prepackaged foods with more than one ingredient like butter, or margarine
  •  Wax coating compounds and other edible protective coatings.
  • Accompanying ingredients whose sole goal is to enhance the flavour during preparation

Complying with these regulations ensures that your consumers have access to meaningful and accurate information about the food they consume.

This helps them make informed decisions.

For instance, foods high in saturated fat, sugar, and sodium should show a visible magnifying glass symbol to draw consumers’ attention.

Similarly, you should display all allergen declarations.

Therefore, the food labeler should be able to handle printing all the above information in English and French as these are the official languages in Canada.

2. Can You Afford it?

Your labeler should print fast, accurately and also be affordable to ensure product quality, regulatory compliance, as well as overall operational efficiency.

While it may be tempting to choose a cheap food labeler, you need to first consider the following before you make a decision:

  • The long-term costs which include maintenance, purchase of spare parts, and any future upgrades.
  • The future growth of your business. Can the labeling machine print fast and accurately to ensure a seamless production flow?
  • The accuracy of label placement to comply with all the set regulations on how and where you should place your label.

3. How Flexible Is the Labeling Machine?

In the food industry, products vary significantly in terms of sizes, shapes and label requirements. Therefore, the food labeler you use should be able to cater to different products efficiently.

So, choose a labeler that you can:

  • Adjust the label applicators
  • Print on various materials like paper, plastic, metal or glass
  • Handle different shapes like round, square, triangle, or irregular to maintain consistency across your product line
  • Print using different label formats like sheet labels and roll labels, heat-transfer labels or self-adhesive
  • Easy changeover between different products and label design to maximize productivity and minimize downtime

The APEL line of labelers integrates Novexx Solutions label heads into each system. Our print and apply systems uses the ALX printer applicator due to its ruggedness and efficiency to get the job done. The ALX printer utilizes thermal transfer printing technology and features ribbon savings.
    What is Ribbon Savings?
Ribbon savings is a feature in the ALX printer which lifts the print head from the label when no print is required, allowing you to use less ribbon. For example, if your label is 4″ long and you only print on 1″ of that label, you will only use 1″ of ribbon. Other printers on the market will use 4″ of ribbon which results in money wasted, time wasted, and faster ware of your print head.
    Why is ribbon savings important?
With ribbon savings you will spend less on consumables, extend the life of your printhead and have more uptime/less change over!

Different kinds of companies and businesses have different labelling needs. If you’re labeling jars or bottles you’ll require a different kind of machine than if you’re labeling flat envelopes or perhaps small pouches.

If you are a publisher or if you are a distributor of books and magazines, you are in a different category all together. You need a labeler that can gently handle printed materials without damage to their very fragile pages but can get the job done in a timely manner and at a decent price per item. You want a labeler that can move swiftly yet expertly while handling the books and magazines as carefully as you would were you placing the labels on them yourself.

Labelling machines like our APEL40 Top Labeler are ideal for books and magazines as well as for tills, clam shells, and even some uneven surfaces. This top labeler is sturdy and solid and fulfills our goals of offering a labeling option that’s easy for you or your employees to learn to use properly.

The benefits of the APEL40 for book and magazine labeling

At Accent Label Automation, we understand the intricacies of making label makers that offer a quality end result. In order to achieve that, a labeler needs two components that are equally important: a label head and a conveyor, working together seamlessly to produce ideal results. A top labeler can be pushed on an existing conveyor and might just work fine. That’s one option. However, if you connect the label head with the conveyor, you now have a top labeler that is robust, durable, and simple to operate. That’s what most business owners are looking for in a piece of machinery! Something they can rely on that doesn’t break down regularly…and doesn’t cost an arm-and-a-leg.

We build our APEL40 with:

  • Novexx Solutions Label Head Model XLS204
  • Stepper Driven Motor at 130′ or 40m maximum dispensing speed
  • Label Counter, Missing Label Detection and Auto Teach
  • Label Accuracy at dispensing edge +/- 0.5 mm
  • 4″ (101mm) Label Width and 12″ (304.8mm) Supply Roll
  • 4′ long 12″ wide Belt Conveyor with Leveling Feet
  • Integrated Support Frame
  • VG Guide Rails with 3 Support Brackets on each side

In addition, we are able to make additions to the standard APEL40 in order to meet the varying needs of our clients, recognizing that one size does not fit all. Add-ons may include:

  • Up to 6″ Label width with the XLS206 label head
  • Up to 9″ Label Width with the XLS209 label head
  • Infeed and out feed integration
  • Hot Stamp Coder or Inkjet Coder
  • Print Applicator
  • Conveyor width and length modification

We can help you make choices

If this is your first foray into purchasing a labeler for books and magazines, the experts at Accent Label Automation can help steer you in the right direction. We can consult with you on the phone or in person and, as such, will be able to assess your needs and determine whether the APEL40 can benefit you and your business and what modifications you might require, if any.

If you’re looking to replace an outdated or defunct label maker for your magazines and books, we will be delighted to demonstrate the benefits of the APEL40 and will offer a tutorial on the installation and use of the machine so that you can properly train your staff to operate it. And, mostly, we’ll show you how efficient your labeling process can become when you use a machine offered by Accent Label Automation.

Many of our clients note that our machines are “game changers” for them and can’t imagine running their business without them. In addition, they praise the support they receive from our company and are quick to note that questions are answered straightaway and problems solved promptly and efficiently whenever they arise.

Furthermore, our clients attest that there are no other similar products available at the price for which Accent Label offers its excellent, hard-working machines. We’re also told by our satisfied customers that labelers like the APEL40 pay for themselves quickly because they make the job of labeling so much easier. And that’s what businesses need!

Look on the shelves of any store and you’ll discover that products – especially liquids – come in containers of all shapes and sizes. From small bottles that you can put in your pocket to medium-sized plastic or glass containers to extra-large vessels for a variety of liquids – from olive oil to motor oil – there’s a bottle for just about everything. And, no doubt, on each of those bottles there’s a label or two.

F-style bottles are among the largest on the market. They are rectangular in shape and their handle is generally at the top. They are best described as “jugs” and they are often used for industrial products such as cleaning chemicals, lawncare products, motor oils, and powders. The unique design of an F-style bottle makes it very easy to carry, even when contents are heavy, and the fact that the handle is at the top and doesn’t stick out the side means that it’s also easier to store.

Most of these bottles are made of durable plastic, such as a high-density polyethylene. Some brands of F-style bottles have window-view stripes that allow consumers to see the amount of fluid remaining while others have graduated markings that indicate the amount of liquid dispensed or the amount remaining in the bottle.

Labels for F-style bottles

Most F-style bottles have labels on both sides of the bottle. Usually, you’ll find the name of the product, the weight of the product (liters or ounces), and some other preliminary information on the front label. On the back label, you might find ingredients, usage directions, and often the name and contact information for the company that manufactures what’s inside of this F-style bottle.

For those who manufacture products that come to the consumer in an F-style bottle, labelling is very important. The label is a customer’s first exposure to a product, so it’s essential that it looks good and is placed on the product straight and without wrinkles or creases.

To achieve this, labelling machines such as the Model APEL60 are a wise investment. This front and back labelling system applies labels on both sides of the container and does so in an efficient manner.

At Accent Labelling, we build the Model APEL60 with:

  • A Novexx Label Head Model XLS204/6/9 with a stepper Driven Motor at 130′(40m) 100′(30m) or 82′(25m) maximum dispensing speed
  • 2 adjustable Dispense Edges (other choices available)
  • Label Counter, Missing Label Detection and Auto Teach
  • Label Accuracy at the dispensing edge of +/- 0.5 mm
  • 8′ long/6″ wide short chain link conveyor with leveling feet
  • A speed encoder to lock all components with label dispense speed
  • A positioning or centering belt
  • A hold-down belt
  • Human Machine Interface Touch Screen technology
  • Integrated Support Frame at 33″+-3″ or custom
  • A fully -adjustable guide railing

Accent Labelling also offers a number of additional options for this machine and can craft a Model APEL60 according to the specific needs of each customer.

Why purchase a labeler for your F-style bottles?

Many small companies choose to “sub out” their labelling needs to larger companies with quick labelling capabilities, but others have determined that purchasing their own labeling machines saves both time and money in the long run.

At Accent Labelling, our machines have been manufactured with quality in mind. That means we’re offering you the latest technology at a cost that can provide even small businesses with a substantial annual savings as compared to hiring someone else to do your labelling work. Simply put, our machines run well and our customers find that they’re pleased with the end result. That’s why many return to us to purchase additional labelling equipment.

In addition, companies of all sizes can save 1000s of man hours when they purchase machines that are as efficient as ours. In most cases, with our labeling machines – including the APEL60 for F-style bottles – a single employee can do the work that might otherwise require 3 or more team members. Many say our machines are “game-changers” for their business.

Accent Labelling also provides our customers with superior customer support including assistance with choosing the right machine for your business, help with regular maintenance, and quick service should you experience a problem with your equipment.

It’s easy to slap a label on an envelope, box, bag, or other flat container, but labeling bottles, jars, and round containers is a little more complicated and often requires a machine that can get the job done right…the first time.

If you’re the manufacturer of a product that comes in such a container, you’ve probably figured out just how important it is to get that label wrapped straight and without creases or crinkles. Maybe when you first started your business, when orders were few and didn’t come in consistently, you placed the labels on your bottles, jars, or cans yourself. Chances are they were hard to line up and probably, in the end, didn’t look uniform. After all, it’s hard to “eyeball” such an application.

If you were displeased with the overall look of the labelling, perhaps you’ve searched for an easier way to apply labels…maybe an automated way that may cost more money upfront but will save plenty of cash in the long run, mostly because you’ll have far less waste and will spend far fewer hours on wrapping labels around your containers.

The APEL50 Side Labeling System

Accent Label Automation has developed the APEL50 system for companies that need to tackle placement of labels on any type of round container including bottles, jars, and cans. It’s most often used for full wraps; that is, wrapping labels around the containers so that they meet on the ends. However, this label system is also useful for labels that are to be applied to one side only.

This machine can handle up to a 9-inch label height, so it’s suitable for tall containers, and can also be fitted with a top applicator for lid labelling. The conveyor can handle most any style of upright standing container and can be outfitted with a speed encoder to assure wrinkle free label application.

Who uses a side labeling system?

Any number of different industries can make use of a labeling machine that accommodates all sorts of round containers. Some include:

  • Craft breweries – Craft beers are huge these days and there are many growing craft breweries across the country and in the U.S., especially in the Pacific Northwest. A side labeling machine is ideal for beer makers who enjoy designing fun and interesting labels for their ever-growing inventory of products.
  • Bath products – Do you make soaps, lotions, shampoo, bubble bath? Most of these products are distributed via clear or colored bottles, so purchasing a side labeling system certainly pays off when you’re labeling dozens upon dozens of these bottles each week. Not only will your inventory of cleansing and soothing products look great, but you’ll be able to keep up with growing requests for inventory.
  • Nutritional supplements and other natural products – Growing companies that produce items such as organic or natural vitamins and other supplements could certainly benefit from the APEL50. Labels on these products contain lots of important information and it’s essential for consumers to be able to read those labels with ease.
  • Wine- Aside from what’s inside, there’s nothing more important on a wine bottle than the label that’s stuck on the outside, wrapped around that amazing vintage that may have taken years to produce. It tells you what varietal your drinking, where it’s made, the alcohol content, and – of course – the name of the cellar that produced it. Wine labels can be quite elegant or fun and quirky, and a bottle labeler is necessary for proper placement of those all-important labels.
  • Jar candles – Candle-making is a multi-billion dollar business and continues to grow. Who doesn’t love the beautiful scent of lavender on a summer day or the smell of balsam fir at holiday time? You can enjoy those and hundreds of other scents by just lighting one candle! Jar candles that really catch the eye require colorful labels that adhere to the candle’s round shape and provide a photo that really speaks to the scent. A side labeller can help place those labels accurately.

These are just a few examples of companies and manufacturers that would benefit from the use of a high-tech side labeller for their products. Many more would find such a machine to be both a time and money saver.

If you believe the APEL50 side labeler could help streamline your business, contact Accent Label Automation for more information on the machine and to learn how we can customize it to fit your individual needs.

Look around the supermarket or a local department store and you’ll find scores of products that come in a variety of container types. You’ll see the usual boxes and cans but you’ll also spy common products that are available to purchase tucked within pouches and bags.

Pouches and bags have become increasingly popular in today’s stores, especially for food items such as coffee, nuts, grains, and more. Stand up pouches and bags have become especially popular and, in many cases, reduce the amount of packaging used, allowing us to make a little less of a carbon footprint on the environment.

If you make or market products in these kinds of packages, you might find that labelling pouches and bags can be a little trickier than labelling flat boxes, but that doesn’t mean it has to be costly. Start-up businesses that are peddling products that are packaged this way, as well as established businesses that are transitioning to bags or pouches, can keep the costs down if they find the right labelling machine for their needs.

Finding a pouch labeling machine

With so many items now being sold in stand-up pouches and other similar containers, purchasing a labeler that accommodates that kind of packaging has become a priority for many companies, especially those with high volume businesses but also those that are just getting started.

A labelling machine such as The Pouch Labeler Model APEL40PL can get the job done quickly and at a fraction of the cost of subbing out labeling jobs to other companies that will print the labels for your products and adhere them to your packaging. This particular machine features a pouch loading platform and can apply labels on any flat surface including bags and pouches but also cartons.

Why consider such a machine and others like it? This top-notch model offers not only the best in labelling technology but also perks such as a label counter and missing label detection. Accuracy is also a big deal – especially when you’re just starting out and every penny counts – and this machine is super accurate. After all, you don’t want to waste pouches or bags because labels are put on crookedly or with wrinkles that obscure the printing.

If you’re shopping for a labeler, you’ll also want to check out if the one you’re considering for purchase can adhere labels to both empty and full pouches or bags That’s a huge issue for some companies who will be filling their pouches (or having someone else fill them) before it’s time to stick on the labels.

Of course, pouches, bags, and other soft containers come in a variety of different materials, so it’s essential that the labeler you chose can accommodate everything from classic paper bags to metallic-type containers, canvas or other fabrics, and more. You’ll certainly want your labels to be even and accurate, regardless of what kind of packaging materials you are using.

How do I know which pouch and bag labeler is right for me?

If you’re a labelling machine novice, you’re not going to be able to simply open a catalog or click on a website and choose a labeler. There are likely a number of questions you’ll need to ask before your labelling consultant can recommend the right machine for you, including:

  • How many bags/pouches do I need to label each day? Month? Year?
  • Will this machine accommodate all my labelling needs or will I need different machines for different products or projects?
  • Will this machine save me time and money?
  • What is the warranty on this machine?
  • What is the total cost and are payment terms available?
  • Is operating assistance/instruction available with purchase?

You may have additional questions you’ll need to ask before making a purchase. Write them down and call Accent Labels to speak with one of our labelling experts, who can offer a no-obligation consultation that can lead you to the right machine(s) for your pouch and bag labelling needs.

It’s the holidays, and most of us do our best to be festive in whatever ways we can. We decorate our homes, wear Christmas-themed clothing, cook or bake special foods, and do what it takes to get ourselves – and others – into the holiday spirit.

This frivolity likely extends to our packages, too, but it can be difficult to figure out how to take a rather hum-drum package and spruce it up so that it screams “Merry Christmas”, especially when we’re mailing hundreds of packages at holiday time. As business owners who deal with packaging, we’d like to offer more than the standard brown box during the holiday season, but what’s the best way to do that?

Certainly, one clever and inexpensive way to give your packages some Christmas spirit is to choose themed labels that correspond to your product while also making the packaging look festive. Holiday labels can function simply as a decoration or sticker on an otherwise-boring shipping box or can actually be a place where the name of the company and the recipient is printed.

Whimsical holiday labels

If you are shipping products that are fun and light-hearted, choose labels that reflect that feeling. After all, much of Christmas is all about sharing good times and laughs with friends and family!

Labels that perhaps say the following are a good option:

  • From the North Pole
  • Special Delivery from Santa
  • Do Not Open Until Christmas (or December 25)
  • Have a Holly Jolly Christmas
  • Only Open if you are on Santa’s Nice (or Naughty) List

There are all sorts of possibilities for fun Christmas-related labels and they may or may not have a direct correlation to what’s in the box. You might also choose labels with just a simple image – like Santa, Rudolph, or a snowman – and the words Merry Christmas printed on them They are suitable for just about any item and are a simple way to add a little holiday cheer to any package.

Vintage and Classic Christmas labels

If you’re seeking a more classic look for your Christmas labelling, there are certainly options that forgo the whimsical and, instead, include very lovely holiday images that call to mind an old-fashioned holiday celebration.

These box labels might include just the traditional colours of red and green and may be decorated with gold or silver printing for an upscale look that is ideal for higher-priced items. Many feature a fancy script font or some other sort of printing that’s different from the boxy letters you might find on something more contemporary. Beautiful script says “classy”, and labels with handwriting-style font make packages look very traditional, often even Victorian or Edwardian.

Vintage or classic Christmas labels, like whimsical labels, can function merely as stickers on a shipping box or can be used as the actual mailing label. You won’t find anything kitschy on a vintage label, usually just the words “Merry Christmas”, “Happy New Year”, or something similarly simple.

Contemporary Christmas Labels

Looking for something a bit more bright and bold to accompany your modern tech products or your fashion-forward clothing? Try a label with a contemporary slant; one that speaks of all things bright, shiny, and up-to-date.

Look for images in stand-out neon reds and greens or even other less-traditional holiday colours for your labels. Brightly-wrapped packages, huge Christmas balls or other ornaments, colourful Christmas stockings in a variety of hues…are all perfect for those who seek a more modern look for their holiday labelling needs. Fonts should be bold, block-style, and easy to read and could include a simple Merry Christmas or perhaps a custom message that features a reference to what’s inside.

Many contemporary labels have a fun, hand-drawn look, which can look homey, while others might appear more high-tech. You can chose those that speak to the nature of your products or simply those who like best!

Whichever labels you select, Accent Label can help you choose the right labeler for your holiday package needs, one that’ll not only help you produce the perfect Christmas labels but one that will also assist you in all your labelling needs, regardless of the time of year.
